Description
A substantial hand-thrown studio pottery platter by Robin and Bet Mangum, dated 1980. Measuring approximately 21 inches in diameter, this impressive North Carolina pottery piece features a warm speckled stoneware ground decorated with an expressive hand-painted botanical motif in deep blue.
The composition features individually rendered leaves arranged around a concentric central well, framed by blue bands and a darker glazed rim. Visible throwing rings and subtle variations in the glaze emphasize its handmade character.
The reverse bears an incised Robin & Bet Mangum signature and "80" date, along with an additional KW/arrow-form mark whose significance has not been determined.
At 21 inches across, this is a particularly striking scale for display and works beautifully as a large decorative platter, tabletop centerpiece, or displayed upright as ceramic art.
