Description
Bayard Osborn (American 1922 - 2012) Figure Study, watercolor and ink on paper, unsigned, matted and framed. Bayard Osborn was born into a prominent New York City family and was the grandson of John LaFarge. His early family life was often spent in the company of influential artists including Isamu Noguchi, Arshile Gorky and Roberto Matta. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard. He voluntarily entered the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the bronze star for valor under General Patton and was among those soldiers who liberated the Mauthausen Concentration Camp in 1945.
