About the Artist 
Robert Rivera (Gourd Artist) : A highly recognized contemporary southwestern artist. Since the late 1970s, he has been famous for transforming ordinary gourds and seed pods into intricate Native American art forms, including Navajo warriors, storytellers, and deer antler ghost masks. His work blends Apache, Spanish, and French heritage influences and is distributed widely out of Arizona.

The mid-1990s represents Robert Riveras prime "mid-career" period . It was during this exact window that his work gained massive national traction, transitioned firmly from southwestern craft into premier fine art galleries, and he published his seminal retrospective book, Robert Rivera: Painted Gourds (1993)
