A Manufrance 12-gauge alarm cannon is a vintage, cast-iron signaling or scarecrow device made by the famous French manufacturer made in Saint-Etienne France during the late 19th to early-to-mid 20th century
Function: Designed to fire 12-gauge blank cartridges to create a loud report. It served as an audible alarm for property protection, a wildlife deterrent in fields and vineyards, or a ceremonial salute, or Users could attach a string or trip wire to the firing mechanism,  across a door way or path and cause the 12 gauge blank to create a loud waring bang.
Construction: Heavy cast-iron body featuring a small chamber and a base plate with screw holes designed to be permanently or semi-permanently mounted to a wooden post, block, or other rigid surface.
The end of the barrel is typically solid or vented underneath,meaning it cannot fire a live projectile and is meant for blanks and signaling.








Appears to be in good shape. The barrel measures approx 4 inches. The piece measures approx 8h x 4w x 3d inches. See pics. E-6440
