What a great way to accent all your bamboo rattan and chinoiserie! This size was more than likely a woman's hat as it is a good bit smaller than the other one listed in my shop. The original strap is still attached. These antique wide brimmed piqued hats were used allover Southeast Asia and has been called a Rickshaw Hat, a Coolie Hat or Sun hat. They were also used when hard at work in the rice paddy. It is woven of rattan thatch and rattan cane and makes a dramatic wall statement in any room. A fantastic architectural object of art on a wall or placed on a large shelf or console. It is a great collector's item and historical piece of fashion history.
