Offered is a Royal Copenhagen faience vase from the Baca Series designed by Nils Thorsson and made in Denmark in 1964.

Faience is sometimes also spelled Fajance and is a form of tin-glazed earthenware ceramic.

Aluminia was a Danish factory of faience or earthenware pottery founded in Copenhagen in 1863, and in 1882, the owners of Aluminia purchased the Royal Copenhagen porcelain workshop, each of the factories operating independently under their respective trade names until 1969 when the use of Aluminia was halted.

Nils Thorsson began as an apprentice at Aluminia at age 13. He went on to become the Artistic Director from 1928-1969, whilst also doing the same job at Royal Copenhagen from 1949 onwards. Thorsson designed some of the company's best known collections and oversaw many others. The birds on this vase are some of Thorsson's least abstract interpretations of flora and fauna. The base indigo blue has an under layer of cream glaze.

It is marked on the bottom #708/3207 and measures 4" x 2.75" x 5.5".
