A real survivor and collectors dream! Scarce, extremely early 1950's Eames PKW Swivel dowel base desk, dining, or side chair by Herman Miller. The dowel base retains all the original hardware, except one screw, which was replaced long ago based on the oxidation. The are no cracks or repairs to the fragile dowel legs. The wire seat has oxidation and some chips, but I see no broken welds or repairs. The swivel function moves smoothly and all the foot glides are original and present. Released in 1952, this model was only produced for two years, making it highly collectable with mid century design enthusiasts. This is authentic, as it has the pivot mechanism makers mark SENG stamped into the metal. Dowel bases were only produced for two years dating this chair from 1952-1954. The surviving scarcity of the original dowel base with no repairs, makes this a real gem! Unfortunately, there is no cover included.
