This pair is made in the style of Duncan Phyfe - Klismos design. Made of solid dark stained mahogany wood with carved scrolled arms and emblem cameo back rail. Famous flared legs and stylized frame has soft rectified edges. Upholstered fabric seat in polished damask jacquard material with monotone coloration of a light greyish mossy washed stone color. Detailed solid wood ribbing on back and front rail frame, carved cameo emblem, solid wood elbow arms in the shape of scrolls. Traditional neoclassical period design.

The solid dark-stained mahogany construction, scroll arms, carved cameo backrail, and ribbed frame detailing are characteristic of Phyfe-style furniture emphasizing symmetry, light craftsmanship, and classic ornamentation. The light greyish moss stone damask fabric upholstery fits the period's refined taste and mimics the "watered damask" textiles often used by Phyfe himself circa 1816 on original pieces. Early 20th century attribution are consistent with vintage reproductions produced in the 1930s-1950s. With dimensions of 20.5" W x 34.5" H, this pair is slightly larger than early 19th-century originals but proportioned similarly to mid-century interpretations. Their craftsmanship, form, and neoclassical motifs suggest a faithful homage to Duncan Phyfe's Klismos style.

In fair preowned condition consistent to the age. Some well worn wood lacquered surfaces in some areas and with some dings on the edges and lower legs. Structurally sound frame construction. Fabric has minimal wear, may benefit from pro cleaning or reupholstery if desired. Of unknown origin or era, most likely early 20th century.
