One-of-a-kind abstract painting by renowned artist Leya Evelyn. Crafted in 1986, this unique piece showcases the artist's mastery of blending pastels over collage elements, resulting in a stunning visual experience. This work was constructed through a combination of processes and mediums: Thick oil pastel give it its vibrant coloring while the collage elements underlay (magazine and photography) add a subtle depth and texture, accentuated by the artist "scratching" back into the paper further defining the geometric shapes.

Leya Evelyn has worked as an abstract painter since her early twenties. Her career in the arts has extended up and down the East Coast into Canada. At Yale, she studied under Josef Albers, concentrating on painting and color. After twenty-four years in New York City, she moved to Nova Scotia. She now resides near Halifax and exhibits extensively locally as well as in galleries across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
