Antique early 20th century Heintz Art Metal Shop bookends with sterling silver bamboo decoration - a really wonderful period example of Japonisme in American Arts & Crafts design. Succeeding the Art Crafts Shop in Buffalo, NY, the Heintz Art Metal Shop operated from 1906 to 1930 and produced fine and now very collectible examples of Arts & Crafts period decorative arts. These would be perfect to display books on a table, desk, or shelves.

Each one is marked on the base with Heintz Art Metal Shop mark HAMS in lozenge, "STERLING ON BRONZE / PAT.AUG.21,12" and the model number "7089". "STERLING" is also stamped into the base of one of the bamboo stalks on each bookend.

In as-found condition with nice medium-dark patina (actually a little darker than appears in the photos) and no significant tarnish on silver. Condition commensurate with age and use. See photos.
