A beautiful antique Chinese late Ming Dynasty or Early Qing Dynasty carved statue of Guanyin or Quan Yin. Hand carved from one piece of wood retains original painted finish. Measures 22" x 7" x 6". In good very antique condition.

Guanyin is the Chinese translation of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. Bodhisattvas are enlightened beings who chose to stay on earth as accessible examples for Buddhist faithful to follow.
