Beautiful antique Art Nouveau Nippon porcelain tankard vase, hand painted with a serene lakeside landscape featuring birch trees and white daisies in soft pastel greens, golds, and lavenders. The tall cylindrical form flares gently at the base and neck, with a sculpted handle and ornate gilded band at the top accented by tiny raised enamel "jewel" details for extra sparkle. Marked on the underside with the green "M in wreath" Hand Painted Nippon backstamp, this piece is attributed to Morimura Bros., the trading company that later became Noritake Co. Ltd. This Nippon mark was used on Japanese export porcelain made for the U.S. market in the early 1900s (pre-1921), making it a desirable example for collectors of Morimura, Nippon, and early Noritake art porcelain.
