Extremely Rare Find! Comes with original twist pottery lid!!! This gorgeous two toned natural/honey colored piece of earthenware comes from Scotland and was produced in the late 1800's - early 1900's. I was told by previous owner when I asked its story, that these containers were used on the steamships that crossed the Atlantic for food storage - specifically pickles were mentioned! This piece is perfectly pristine though - with no odor or stains.
Makers mark stating " Govencroft Pottery"- 1 - Glasgow in an oblong shape on the upper left of gorgeous curled handle. To the right of the makers mark " 2 1/2 " is engraved probably relating to capacity.
No cracks or chips on body aside from the top area where the lid is screwed in. Due to the nature of it being stoneware - there are some chips consistant with use and age.

Great height for floor vase - filled with pampas grass or your favorite dried flowers!
Neutral colors go with any decor.
