Here is a little auction find from the shore and because we never pass up a name brand vintage piece, it came home with us. Thomasville was founded in 1904 and continued manufacturing furniture into the late 1990's. Similar to Ethan Allen, Thomasville was an American furniture manufacturer known for its quality and craftsmanship. This is a four drawer chair side chest that is finished on all four sides, perfect to use as an end table or a smaller nightstand. Measuring 24" wide by 14" deep and 24" high it is made out of cherry. We think this small chest is in terrific condition for its age, a stamp underneath the chest looks to indicate a 02/85 manufacture date, but the stamp in the drawer looks older. Either way, this small chest is a perfect traditional addition to any home. The case is solid and all the drawers work smoothly. Condition Notes: This four drawer chair side chest is in great condition for its age. The case is sturdy and strong, all 4 drawers glide smoothly on their wood rails. The top drawer has some slight separation of the dovetail joint on the left hand facing side and can be easily fixed with patience and wood glue. There is a small ding on the back near the base and it looks like an old wood fill spot under the top on the right above the first drawer. This isn't visible unless you are eye level with the small chest. The finish is smooth and we don't see any signs of sun fading or damage. There are a few typical small bumps or dings common in a piece of this age, none that broke the finish and the top is pristine. We have tried to represent the wear accurately, but additional photos are available on request.
