Description
Wari Tapestry Weave Tunic, circa 800-900 CE. Textile: 3'6'' x 5'2'' (107 x 157 cm). Camelid fiber. 3/4 complete tunic in interlocking tapestry woven wool. Most Wari tunics of this style (heads with alternating stepped spirals) are separated by dark brown ground bands. The atypical rust/camel ground on this tunic has a very attractive color balance overall. Provenance: Steven Berger.
