Noted for its individualistic, egalitarian, and progressive society, the Baule of Cote D'Ivoire were master craftspeople. This chair features their characteristically well polished woodworking style. The individuals at the base suggest a community that stands equal together, a unique ideal for societies at the time. The rich wood, strong symbolism, and abstract form come together as an incredible sculptural object.
