A beautiful and very old box that was probably used for jewelry or money for the head of the family. This box has been hand carved using a method called "Chip Carving". The design is quite ornate and the lid has slightly warped over many years. The inside bottom of this box is lined with a light pink satin. Most likely this box was kept by a woman of means. The wood is pretty lightweight, yet strong.
