Description
A charming set of three antique Chinese blue and white porcelain plates dating to the Daoguang period (1821-1850) of the Qing Dynasty. Each hand-painted plate features an elegant floral medallion surrounded by scrolling vines and stylized blossoms rendered in rich cobalt blue beneath a luminous glaze. The subtle differences in brushwork from plate to plate reflect the artistry of hand decoration, giving the set wonderful character and authenticity.
The undersides bear underglaze blue square seal marks and exhibit the expected signs of early 19th-century craftsmanship, including kiln variations, minor firing imperfections, and slight irregularities in the hand-thrown forms. Together, they create a refined display whether hung on a wall, arranged in a cabinet, or used as decorative accents on a tabletop.
The plates are in antique condition consistent with age. Two plates have stable rim hairlines and one has a small rim chip, all reflected in the pricing and shown in the photographs. They remain highly decorative examples of Qing Dynasty export porcelain.
Dimensions (each):
Diameter: approximately 6.5 in.
Height: approximately 1 in.
A beautiful addition to collections of Chinese export porcelain, blue and white ceramics, or traditional grandmillennial and English country interiors, these nearly two-century-old plates bring timeless elegance and a sense of history to any space.
