Description
Dating to approximately the 1860s-1880s, this mid-19th century cherry dresser features five drawers, including a hand-planed top drawer, with hand-cut dovetail joinery and square nail construction. The warm, well-aged cherry patina is complemented by turned wooden knobs and front feet and a scalloped backboard adds to its timeless character. Offering generous storage and enduring craftsmanship, the dresser is well suited to a bedroom, entryway, or living space. It measures 393/4" high to the top of the dresser and 461/2" high including the backboard.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Structurally sound and in good antique condition. The back legs are mismatched, with one original leg and one historical replacement at the left rear. The original locking mechanisms are no longer present, and the piece does not appear to have ever had escutcheons. There is a small area of repair along the back of the top, next to the backboard, which may have originally been an opening for a center bracket to support a mirror, as seen in the pictures. Overall, a well-preserved antique.
All items are in vintage or pre-owned condition and show wear consistent with age and use, unless otherwise noted in the listing. Any significant condition details will be described and/or photographed; however, the absence of a specific mention does not imply the item is free from imperfections. We encourage buyers to review all photos carefully and reach out with any questions prior to purchase. Additional photos or details are available upon request.
