A satirical bronze sculpture titled "Vice-Presidential Potato," by Pennsylvania sculptor Herbert Simon, dated 1995. The whimsical potato form, spelling out "POTATO" in raised bronze letters across its top, is a pointed nod to Dan Quayle's famously misspelled "potatoe" moment during his vice presidency - a piece of political satire cast in bronze. Signed and inscribed by the artist: "Vice-Presidential Potato, H. Simon (C) 1995."

Herbert Simon studied with Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, and Philip Guston in the late 1940s and early 1950s, before teaching sculpture and three-dimensional design at Wilkes University from 1969-1992. His public works are installed throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, including "Facets" at Wilkes University and "Two Modules" in Coal Street Park, both in Wilkes-Barre, and "Aloft" at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) in Avoca.
