Vintage Midcentury Mixed Media Sculpted Abstract Painting "Red Furnace" by Henry Irving Gates, 1962 (signed on the front upper right corner; original gallery labels on back).

A professor of sculpture from 1964 at George Washington University in Washington DC, Henry Irving Gates became Professor Emeritus in 2002. A talented artist who worked in various mediums, he creates mixed media works as well as large-scale sculpture. His work is held in numerous collections including those of Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC, and Washington and Lee University in Virginia.

Original gallery tags on the verso. Recently newly framed.

Original work is 48"x40".
