A charming Napoleon III Second Empire Period (1852-1870) mahogany Bonheur Du Jour de dame(ladies writing desk) circa 1860

Hand-crafted in France the third quarter of the 19th century, in Louis XV taste, having a superstructure with open gallery two tier shelf or bookstand on scrolled supports with rounded finials, atop four small dovetailed drawers with key, having an inset black leather writing surface that can slide out to extend the serpentine shaped desk, over the large lower drawer with fitted interior and carved escutcheon, scalloped apron, elegantly rising on cabriole legs. Signed in pencil; "Blauchay".
