19th Century French Louis XIII Carved Oak Barley Twist and Caning Desk Armchair

Description

This elegant antique armchair was crafted in France, circa 1880. Built of oakwood, the armchair stands on barley twist legs embellished with a scrolled "X" bottom stretcher dressed with a decorative finial. The chair features a rounded back with curved ladder and leaf decor, two intricate armrests with hand carved lion head sculptures, and a wide and deep handwoven cane seat. The barrel shaped chair is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina; complete a man's study or office with this comfortable seating.
