Description
Offering a remarkably well preserved 19th century Victorian style piano/organ stool featuring an adjustable swivel seat ranging from 18" to 21" in height to easily accommodate musicians of various sizes and/or instruments.
Constructed of solid oak and built to last, this rarely seen three-legged model is adorned with traditional ball-and-claw feet, artisan crafted with ornate cast iron details and solid glass balls.
Made in the USA circa 1882-1885 by John Gerts who learned the skill of piano manufacturing in Hamburg, Germany before emigrating to Chicago, IL in 1870. Here, he established his original company where his style and workmanship earned a notable reputation.
He later partnered with William H. Bush and his son William L. Bush to form what is notoriously known as The Bush & Gerts Piano Company in 1885; later established as one of Chicago's top piano manufacturers. The Bush Temple of Music is currently designated as a
Chicago Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A rare opportunity to own one of the last pieces crafted by John Gerts' original company just before his partnership with The Bush & Gerts Piano Co.
