This iconic design was photographed in Torres' studio as published in the Vallarta Tribune.
Mark: Gold engraved medallion on base with Mario Lopez Torres, Taller Ihuatzio Mich, Tzumundi, 1974, Hecho en Mexico, with cat logo.
Excellent condition with one small piece of reed loose on tail. Patina on brass.

- material: while commonly called wicker or rattan, this art form is made of bulrush reed sourced from Lake Patzcuaro in Mexico, where Torres and artisan workshop are from. Lopez Has transformed this utilitarian material previously made for humble craft into innovative designs produced still by the Tzumundi workshop, in the traditional basketry community of Ihuatzio.
