Description
Decorate a hallway, bedroom or study with this elegant antique chair. Crafted in Brittany, France circa 1870, the large chair stands on carved straight legs ending with square feet over a scalloped apron decorated with spindles and floral and shell motifs. The tall and rectangular back is heavily carved, including inset medallions of Breton people in traditional clothing, and decorated with floral and spindle motifs throughout. The wide and deep seat is upholstered with a red velvet fabric dressed with decorative brass nail heads. The occasional chair is in excellent condition with fine and detailed carvings and the frame adorns a rich dark walnut patina.
