The Chinese character for monkey sounds the same as marquis, symbolizing immediate promotion in official career, a classic auspicious theme in Qing art. The carving lines are sharp and vivid, with lifelike postures of horse and monkey. The base bears an incised "Qianlong" mark. Overlay glass carving is a representative craft of glassware in Qianlong era.
