It has a flattened round body with matching cloisonn?? stopper and gilded foot. The background is rich crimson red covered with scrolling floral patterns outlined with gold wire and filled with polychrome enamel of blue, green and yellow. Two begonia-shaped reserved panels decorate both sides. One side depicts a crane and fish amid lotus pond; the reverse side shows a golden carp playing among lotus flowers, symbolizing surplus year after year and longevity. The base bears carved gilded mark ??Qianlong Nian Zhi??. The piece features fine wire work, gorgeous enamel colours and substantial gilding, representing a top-tier cloisonn?? snuff bottle from the Qing imperial workshop.
