Carved from bluestone, its surface has weathered over millennia, with most of the original pigments faded and mottled. Layered traces of ancient vermilion and azurite pigments remain on the shoulders and chest, along with residual gilding around the eyes and brows, exuding a serene, archaic texture shaped by time. The Buddha features neatly arranged fine spiral hair and a rounded ushnisha. With a plump, gentle face, downcast half-closed eyes and a subtle smile, he presents a serene and compassionate demeanor, fully embodying the graceful and dignified style of Northern Qi sculpture as it transitioned from slender to plump forms. The shoulders and back bear soft, flowing contours, and the robe covering both shoulders displays concise, close-fitting and naturally smooth folds. Though only the upper half survives, the statue retains a dignified, solemn presence with a coherent aura and profound Zen charm. As a typical surviving example of Northern Qi Buddhist stone carving art, it symbolizes the protection of Buddha's light, pure tranquility, dispelling misfortune and attracting blessings, and enduring good fortune.
