A charming pair of Venetian miniature paintings depicting lagoon and harbor views with gondolas, sailboats, distant architecture, and atmospheric skies, likely inspired by the enduring Grand Tour taste for Venice and its maritime imagery. Each work is set within a deep black ebonized frame with gilt inner liner, emphasizing the jewel-like scale and luminous coastal palette. The scenes capture the romantic vocabulary of Venetian vedute, with small vessels, low horizons, and soft washes of blue, gold, and gray suggesting the lagoon at varying times of day. Decorative, collectible, and highly evocative, these miniature marine paintings would have appealed to travelers and connoisseurs seeking intimate cabinet pictures of Venice. Each does have an artist signature, but it has not been identified.
