D:5cmWeight:37gThis Qing Dynasty charm coin features Taoist "Shang Fang Lei" (Thunder Talisman) incantations on the obverse and the Eight Trigrams on the reverse. It was a type of amulet coin used by the common people to ward off evil spirits and protect households. The obverse bears Taoist magic phrases such as "Thunder slays ghosts and subdues spirits, wards off demons and evil, preserves the divine essence, obey the urgent orders of Lord Lao Zi," alongside the "Shan Gui" (Mountain Ghost) talisman. The reverse displays the Eight Trigrams symbols. With a smooth patina and fine craftsmanship, it is a typical example of Qing Dynasty folk numismatic art.
