D:6.2cmWeight:68gThis palace coin was minted during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. The obverse bears the characters "Kang Xi Zhong Bao" in regular script, read top-bottom-right-left. The reverse displays a high-relief dragon and phoenix design with the characters "Bao Quan" in the center, indicating it was cast by the Baoquan Mint. It was not a circulating currency but a palace coin used for celebrations and rewards. Rarely surviving, it is a fine example of Qing Dynasty folk numismatic art.
