D:3.9cm (1.54in) Weight:27g (0.06lb)This silver coin was minted in the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927). It was a proposed national currency pattern coin issued by the newly established Nanjing Nationalist Government to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The obverse features a front-facing portrait of Sun Yat-sen with the inscription "Republic of China Nationalist Government". The reverse depicts the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum with rising sun rays, the denomination "??" in the center, and "Year 16 Minted" below. Produced only in small quantities as a pattern coin, it is extremely rare and a prestigious rarity among Republican-era silver coins.
