Description
Width:4cm(1.57in) Weight:250g(0.551lb)This is a polyhedral bronze boqiong of the Han Dynasty, cast in bronze with a multi-faceted spherical form. Double lines of gold and silver inlay frame circular panels, inside which numeral inscriptions are engraved with gold inlay. Round turquoise inlays are embedded on the sphere surface. It bears thick aged patina, the bronze base in reddish-brown tone mottled with natural greenish-blue rust. Boqiong is the special dice for the ancient Han board game. This piece integrates gold, silver and turquoise inlay techniques. Such elaborate examples are extremely rare surviving relics, precious evidence for the noble gaming culture of Han China.
