Description
Height:6cm(2.36in) Width:6cm(2.36in) Weight:185g(0.408lb)This is a bronze human-head-shaped staff finial of the Han Dynasty, cast in bronze. Modelled as a human head with a hollow neck for mounting the shaft. The facial features are realistically rendered, with black glass beads inlaid for eyes. Turquoise inlays adorn the forehead and cheeks. Fine gold inlaid lines with inscribed symbols run across the surface with elegant strokes. The surface is covered with thick and variegated bronze patina with naturally layered blue-green encrustation and archaic patina. It served as the top ornament for high-ranking ceremonial staff in Han Dynasty. Integrating gold inlay, gem inlay and sculpture, it is a rare masterpiece of Han bronze art.
