Height:17cm(6.69in) Width:10cm(3.94in) Weight:500g(1.102lb)This bronze stemmed wine cup is from the Han Dynasty. It has a straight cylindrical body supported by a flared tall foot, with a beast-shaped handle on one side. The exterior is decorated with gold-inlaid chariot-and-horseman scene, accompanied by inscribed characters ??Da Fu Che??, set against silver-inlaid cloud scroll ground. A gilded ox-head motif adorns the upper part of the vessel. Turquoise and red gemstones are inlaid around the rim and belly. The bronze is covered with solid ancient red and green patina and profound surface patina. The chariot scene is an important pictorial theme of Han art. Integrating gold & silver inlay, gem inlay and sculpture, this is a high-grade aristocratic ritual wine vessel. Surviving examples are scarce, possessing great historical and artistic value.
