Height:4.5cm(1.77in) Width:5cm(1.97in) Weight:110g(0.243lb)This beast weight is carved from Hetian white jade of Han Dynasty, with mild texture and natural yellowish-brown patina all over. The mythical beast lies prone, raising its head and opening its mouth, with powerful and vivid expression. Gold inlay technique characteristic of Han Dynasty is applied to trace cloud scroll patterns on the body, and turquoise is inlaid in multiple positions for decoration. As a mat weight in Han Dynasty, it has both practical and decorative functions. Jade pieces decorated with gold and gem inlay are extremely rare, embodying the grand and gorgeous style of imperial jade carving in Han period.
