The porcelain is covered in lustrous white glaze. Exterior fully painted with underglaze?blue scrolling?lotus motifs with winding vines and full lotus blooms. The cobalt?blue pigment presents a rich deep tone with natural bleeding and iron?rust speckles characteristic of Sumali?blue material. The rim is decorated with dotted?pearl border, and the foot is encircled by scrolling?grass patterns rendered in fluid, forceful brushwork with well?balanced composition. Typically bearing a lotus?medallion mark inside the base, this stately and elegantly?decorated piece ranks among the most celebrated imperial?kiln wares of the Yongle reign
