Description
Height:17.5cm(6.89in), Diameter:10.5cm(4.13in)Classic Yuhuchun shape with flared mouth, slender neck, plump pear?shaped belly and splayed foot. The neck is decorated with plantain?leaf motifs. The shoulder is encircled by lotus?petal borders and auspicious Sanskrit characters. An inscription ??Da?Ming Cheng?Hua Nian?Zhi?? appears on the upper belly. The main field depicts two phoenixes soaring among scrolling blossoms, with vivid multi?coloured plumage. A band of upward?pointing lotus petals runs around the lower body. Executed in dou?cai technique: outlines drawn in underglaze blue, filled with overglaze red, green and yellow enamels for bright, layered colour effect. The base bears underglaze?blue inscription ??Bestowed by Imperial Grace, treasured in Zhaode Palace??. Phoenix symbolises good fortune, while Sanskrit invokes blessings. This is a representative Ming?dynasty dou?cai decorative porcelain.
