A romantic original oil painting on canvas by Russian artist N.I. Dobritsin, titled "At Dawn" ("Na rassvete") and dated 2017.
The composition depicts a young woman in a blue dress standing at the edge of the sea, holding a white handkerchief and gazing toward a sailing ship with brilliant scarlet sails approaching on the horizon. Soft pastel shades of blue, lavender, pink, and golden yellow fill the sky, while deeper green-blue waves move toward the shore, creating a luminous and dreamlike atmosphere.

The imagery strongly evokes Alexander Grin's celebrated romantic tale "Scarlet Sails" ("Alye parusa"), in which Assol waits for the extraordinary ship with scarlet sails that will transform her life. Whether intended as a direct illustration or simply inspired by this familiar romantic imagery, the painting captures the same sense of anticipation, hope, and distant possibility.

Presented in an elaborate vintage gold-tone frame with richly sculpted floral and scroll decoration.

Collector's Note

The combination of a solitary female figure, luminous dawn sky, restless sea, and distant ship with scarlet sails gives the painting a distinctly narrative quality. Its visual association with Grin's Scarlet Sails adds a particularly evocative dimension for collectors of Russian art, literary subjects, and romantic maritime imagery.
