This large imperial folio size vintage set of ten (10) vibrantly colored lithographs (offset) depicting American tropical birds. Great for a huge wall treatment or several smaller groupings.
Condition: All plates are in very good condition with deep, rich colors on light cream colored vellum stock. Ready for framing. Plates are loose and are printed on one side only
Each plate shows only one kind of bird, depicted against its natural surroundings of beautiful flowers, fruits, and butterflies, in addition to the foliage. This ecological view distinguishes Jean Theodore Descourtilz from other naturalists of this period. Thanks to the fine printing craftsmanship of Messrs. L. van Leer & Co N.V. in Amsterdam the quality of the printing is spectacular.
