This finely executed oil on canvas depicts a classic English fox hunting scene, featuring a distinguished rider dressed in a traditional red hunting coat, mounted on a white horse and accompanied by two attentive hounds. The rider is shown paused on a rugged path, holding his hat confidently, while the dogs look up expectantly, capturing a moment of calm authority before the hunt resumes. The background landscape opens into rolling countryside beneath a softly clouded sky, adding depth and balance to the composition.

The painting is signed Jordan in the lower right. Strong anatomical rendering of the horse, careful attention to costume, and expressive detailing of the hounds demonstrate the artist's technical skill and understanding of equestrian subjects.

The artwork is presented in an impressive, heavily carved wooden frame with a dark and gilt finish, featuring ornate scrollwork and corner embellishments. The substantial frame enhances the formal, traditional character of the painting and gives it commanding wall presence.

Condition:
The painting is in good vintage condition. The canvas appears stable and well-stretched, with visible brush texture and light, age-appropriate surface wear. The reverse shows clean backing and professional framing. The frame is in good condition.
