Description
This charming small-scale oil painting by Van Bell depicts a quiet winter landscape featuring a snow-covered chapel and outbuildings set against a distant mountain peak. Soft atmospheric tones and gently tracked snow paths draw the viewer into the scene, creating a sense of solitude, warmth, and contemplation despite the winter setting.

Bell's palette and smooth brushwork emphasize mood and light rather than detail, aligning the painting with mid-century American regional landscape traditions. The glow of the sky behind the mountain adds a subtle note, making this an especially peaceful composition.

Signed lower left, the painting is in an ornate vintage carved wood frame that elevates the small scale and gives the piece strong wall presence.
