Georges Braque (1882-1963) was a French painter and sculptor who played a pivotal role in the development of Cubism, a revolutionary art movement that transformed the way artists represented reality.

Biography:
Braque was born in Argenteuil, France, and grew up in Le Havre, where he developed an interest in painting and music. He moved to Paris in 1900 to study art and became friends with fellow artists, including Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Braque's early work was influenced by Fauvism, but he soon transitioned to Cubism, collaborating with Picasso to create innovative, fragmented forms.

The Oiseau Bleu (Blue Bird) Card:
In 1958, the iconic Galerie Maeght published a series of Braque's greeting cards, featuring his iconic blue bird motif. The Oiseau Bleu card showcases Braque's unique style, blending simplicity and elegance. The blue bird, a recurring symbol in Braque's work, represents freedom, hope, and the artist's fascination with nature.

Analysis:
The Oiseau Bleu card exemplifies Braque's mature style, characterized by:

- Simplified forms and bold colors
- Geometric shapes and clean lines
- Emphasis on texture and materiality
- Symbolism and metaphorical depth

Braque's innovative approach to art, as seen in the Oiseau Bleu card, has influenced generations of artists, cementing his position as a pioneer of modern art.
