Description
**Important** Please read below description on how to avoid high shipping costs.
This auction features an exciting collection of World War II-era paper ephemera, including several notable magazines and newspapers. Highlights of the collection include at least 18 issues of 'Yank, The Army Weekly' magazine, with cover dates from November 19, 1943, to February 2, 1945. This publication was created for and largely by enlisted soldiers, offering an authentic look into military life during the conflict.
The lot also includes three issues of 'Collier's Magazine' featuring anti-Axis propaganda art, with notable contributions from renowned artists: the February 19, 1944 issue with a caricature by Arthur Szyk, and the July 25, 1942, and December 12, 1942 issues with cover art by Lawson Wood.
Additionally, there are multiple issues of 'The Flaming Bomb,' a military base newspaper likely from Aberdeen Proving Ground, as well as a January 16, 1944 issue of 'Midwest, The Chicago Sun Sunday Magazine,' which features 'The Art of War.'
Completing this eclectic lot are the 'A Complete Flying Manual' by Harold E. Hartney, and the 'Airplane Power' booklet, presenting a fascinating glimpse into aviation training during the war.
This diverse collection is a must-have for avid collectors of World War II memorabilia and propaganda art. Do not miss the chance to own this piece of history!
Checkout & Payment:
After the auction you can checkout two ways: Pay the invoice via Live Auctioneers/Proxibid or pay via the Lodestar Auctions website. Credit card fees apply both ways. 2.9% & $0.30 (4.4% & $0.30 international) through Lodestar Auctions and 4-5% through Live Auctioneers/Proxibid . Lodestar Auctions collects 7% sales tax for Illinois residents only. Live Auctioneers/Proxibid collects sales tax for most states. Check with them for sales rates for your state. Any unpaid items will be automatically charged by Live Auctioneers/Proxibid three days after end of auction. At checkout pay for the item only, shipping will be billed later. See below for shipping options to choose at checkout.
Shipping:
Pick up and buyer arranged shipping is always welcome. We offer in-house shipping for items that can ship through common carrier. All items will be professionally packed at a reasonable rate. If you paid for the item via Lodestar Auctions or Proxibid we will have your items packaged and send you a link to choose and pay for shipping on the Lodestar Auctions Website.
**Important** Live Auctioneers has their own shipping program. We find it to be very expensive and slow. This is the rate you see advertised when bidding. We do not recommend using them. If you do use them you must checkout via Live Auctioneers and choose LiveShip at checkout. If you pay via Live Auctioneers and want our In-house shipping you must choose self-arranged shipping at checkout. If you checkout via Lodestar Auctions this does not apply. I apologize if this is confusing, Live Auctioneers purposely arranged it this way to push their own overpriced shipping service. We are not happy about this and are trying to make it work.
Issues:
All items sold as is. We do our best to describe accurately and take plenty of non-touched up photos to best represent the item. Any lost or damaged item due to shipping must go through the carriers. Buyer pays any return shipping costs regardless of situation.
Thanks for your patronage and happy bidding!
