Full of charm and personality, this vintage sculpture portrays a basset hound reclining on a red-and-white harlequin-patterned cushion. Crafted in Italy circa 2000, the life-size figure is modeled in terracotta and finished with a colorful glazed surface.

The endearing dog rests comfortably with its front paws draped over the checkerboard cushion and its hind legs tucked beneath its body. Long, drooping brown ears frame the expressive face, while soulful eyes and a characteristically melancholic expression capture the gentle temperament of the beloved breed. Finely modeled wrinkles, textured fur, spotted markings, defined paws, and a small curled tail add to the sculpture's realistic appearance. The warm palette of russet red, chocolate brown, cream, and white gives the piece a lively decorative presence.

Ideal for dog lovers and collectors of Italian animal sculptures, this whimsical figure would make an engaging accent in a living room, library, entryway, or covered porch. The vintage basset hound sculpture is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with rich colors and a glossy glazed finish.
