Description
A lovely antique secretary desk in two pieces with Chippendale style. Believed to be English-made in the early to mid 18th century with great details and a beautifully-aged patina. Two separate pieces (bottom is 42" tall and the top is 41" tall) and the top sits nicely in the framed edge of the base. Leather top on the flip down desk top (nice condition) and a nice assortment of drawers that all seem to open and close with ease. The piece presents with an overall rustic appearance showing ample wear, a seemingly worn and loved original finish and nicely aged brass hardware (probably not original).
Condition:
Alterations: Unknown
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Wear consistent with age. Top fits nicely on the base but it is not secure. There are holes on the bottom of the top unit as well as the top of the bottom unit where it was secured to the base. Hardware seems to be replaced as there are newer holes. Occasional scratches, chips, cracks and general signs of several hundred years of use. There appear to be some old repairs with what looks like burlap taping.
