Description
Elegant rectangular black lacquered tray with raised rolled edges, richly decorated in hand-gilded floral and foliate motifs in the English Regency manner.
CIRCA: Mid-19th Century
MAKER'S MARK: Hand Painted Numbers 47227 on bottom
ORIGIN: England
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Please zoom in on photos and read detailed condition notes below.
DIMENSIONS: overall size is 30 and 5/8"wide x 23"deep x 19 and 1/4"high
tray alone is 30 and 5/8"wide x 23"deep x 2.5"high
inside of tray is 28"long x 20"wide x 2.5"deep
Stand alone is 29 and 3/8"long x 21 and 1/4"deep x 17 and 1/4"high
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: THE TRAY TOP SHOWS LOTS OF AGE-RELATED WEAR. THERE ARE 2 WOODEN FEET MISSING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE TRAY. There should be 4 total and this is to keep the tray in place within the frame. Although 2 are missing, the tray remains stationary within the frame when placed. The custom base is newer (not the age of the tray) and sturdy. There is wear to be expected from use but no major flaws to note. The tray has lots of age-related wear, soft oxidation, craquelure, chips in lacquer in places. The inside of the tray is where you see the most wear (to be expected). It still displays beautifully and you can easily cover the flaws by placing coffee table books, etc., strategically. Please zoom in on all photos for examples of flaws.
