Late 19th century Oil on canvas, unsigned, unlined with new frame.

This whimsical Impressionism piece depicts a blowsy, sun-drenched afternoon off a Spanish coastline. It is a simple scene, a languid one, applied with thick, well-chosen color and invoking the timeless pleasure of sailing and sea. A village hamlet is in the background, peaking in the golden belfry of the local parish church, while lazy figures are clustered to watch the sailing.
