This exquisite Late Federal period chest of drawers, dating from the late 1830s, is a stunning example of American craftsmanship. The chest is constructed of flame mahogany, known for its deep, rich color and striking, chatoyant grain pattern that gives each drawer front a unique appearance. The wood has matured beautifully over time, achieving a wonderful, lustrous patina. The clean lines and minimal ornamentation are characteristic of the Federal style, while the flame mahogany adds an opulent touch, making this piece a refined focal point in any room.

The chest features a total of four generously sized drawers, offering both functional storage and elegant presentation. Each drawer is fitted with brass hardware, which complements the piece's sophisticated design. The delicate ogee feet and the subtle veneer work on the drawer fronts are hallmarks of the period, demonstrating the artisan's skill in working with wood to create a piece that is both functional and artistic.

In terms of condition, the chest remains in fine antique condition, with wear that is consistent with age and normal use. There has been some veneer repair and minor losses, but these imperfections do not detract from the overall integrity and beauty of the piece. The drawers operate smoothly, and the flame mahogany retains its striking visual appeal. This chest of drawers is a timeless addition to any collection, offering both history and functionality in one beautiful piece.
